아름다운 마무리

 

如 意 萬 事  辛 卯 年

 

아름다운 마무리 아름다운 마무리는 삶에 대해 감사하게 여긴다. 내가 걸어온 길 말고는 나에게 다른 길이 없었음을 깨닫고 그 길이 나를 성장시켜 주었음을 긍정한다. 아름다운 마무리는 처음의 마음으로 돌아가는 것이다. 일의 과정에서 길의 도중에서 잃어버린 초심을 회복하는 것이다. 아름다운 마무리는 근원적인 물음, 나는 누구인가 하고 묻는 것이다. 삶의 순간순간 마다 나는 어디로 가고 있는가 하는 물음에서 그때그때 마무리가 이루어진다. 그 물음은 본래 모습을 잃지 않는 중요한 자각이다. 아름다운 마무리는 내려 놓음이다. 내려 놓음은 일의 결과나 세상에서의 성공과 실패를 뛰어넘어 자신의 순수 존재에 이르는 내면의 연금술이다. 내려놓지 못할 때 마무리는 일어나지 않는다. 그것은 또 다른 윤회와 반복의 여지를 남긴다. 아름다운 마무리는 진정한 내려 놓음에서 완성된다. 아름다운 마무리는 비움이다. 채움만을 위해 달려온 생각을 버리고 비움에 다가가는 것이다. 그러므로 아름다운 마무리는 생각을 버리는 비움이고 그 비움이 가져다 주는 그런 충만으로 자신을 채운다. 아름다운 마무리는지금이 바로 그때임을 아는 것이다. 과거나 미래의 어느 때가 아니라 지금 이 순간이 나에게 주어진 유일한 순간임을 안다.   아름다운 마무리는 지나간 모든 순간들과 기꺼이 작별하고 아직 오지 않는 순간들에 대해서는 미지 그대로 열어 둔 채 지금 이 순간을 받아 들인다.   아름다운 마무리는 용서이고 이해이고 또한 자비이다. 용서와 이해와 자비를 통해자기 자신을 새롭게 일깨운다. 이유없이 일어나는 일은 존재하지 않기 때문이다. 아름다운 마무리는 나 자신의 구속으로부터 벗어나는 일이다. 나를 얽어매고 있는 구속과 생각들에서 벗어나 자유로워 지는 것, 삶의 예속물이 아니라 삶의 주체로서 거듭나는 일이다. 진정한 자유인에 이르는 것이야 말로 아름다운 마무리다.   아름다운 마무리는 차 한잔을 앞에 두고 그 향기와 맛과 빛깔을 조용히 음미한다. 그것은 삶에 새로운 향기와 빛을 담는 일이다. 아름다운 마무리는 스스로 가난과 간소함을 선택한다. 맑은 가난과 간소함으로 자신을 정신적 궁핍으로부터 바로 세우고 소유의 비좁은 감옥으로 부터 해방시킨다.  아름다운 마무리는 단순해 지는 것 하나 만으로 만족할 줄 안다. 불필요한 것들과 거리를 둠으로서자기 자신과 더욱 가까워진다. 그리고 아름다운 마무리는 언제든 떠날 채비를 갖춘다. 그 어느것 어디에도 얽매이지 않고 순례자나 여행자의 모습으로 산다. 우리 앞에 놓인 이 많은 우주의 선물도 그저 감사히 받아 쓸 뿐이고 언제든 빈손으로 두고 떠날 수 있도록 준비한다. 그러므로 아름다운 마무리는 끝이 아니고 새로운 시작이다. 신묘년(辛卯年)을 맞으며...好好爺 유성수 드림 <좋은글/조합/가필/재편집>

분노는 작은 자살 행위 존 헌터라는 세계적인 생리학자가 있었다. 그는 분노, 질투, 독선의 감정을 품으면 심장의 혈관이 압박을 받아 심장병이 생긴다는 학설을 주장했다. 존 헌터는 학회를 열어 이 논문을 발표했다. 그런데 어느 학자가 그의 설명을 듣고 맹렬한 공격을 가했다. 존 헌터는 너무 화가 나서 반격을 가하려고 자리에서 벌떡 일어났다. 그 순간 그는 자리에서 쓰러져 숨을 거두었다. 사인은 간단했다. 극심한 분노가 심장의 혈관을 압박해 일어난 심장마비였다. 결국 존 헌터는 죽음으로 자신의 학설을 증명한 셈이었다. 듀크대 의사들이 다름과 같은 연구결과를 주목할 필요가 있다. 화를 잘 내는 사람이 보통 사람보다 사망률이 20%나 높다. 위궤양과 대장염 환자들은 대부분 성격이 급하거나 화를 잘 내는 사람들이다. 화는 인간의 영육을 병들게 한다. 분노는 작은 자살이다. <아름다운 내일을 여는 213가지 이야기 중>

작가 추미림은 “거대 도시는 웹과 같으며 하나하나의 픽셀은 우리 자신이다” 라고 말한다. 작가는 자신의 아이디와 패스워드만 있으면 웬만한 것은 다 되는 웹 세상 속에서 무책임하고 실체가 없는 유저들이 떠도는 세상을 작가만의 독특한 방식으로 표현 한다. 굳이 한국에만 국한 된 것이 아니라 전세계적으로 이어진 네트워크 속에서 우리는 진실성이 결여 되고 무한히 범람하는 정보 속에서 자의적인 선택을 통한 정보를 소화 한다. 격변하는 기술의 발전 속에서 우리의 삶은 우리의 육체를 통한 경험과 학습에서 멀어지며 무형적이고 시각적인 자극을 통한 경험과 학습에 더욱 노출 되어 간다. 이로 인해 사회는 현실과 웹의 사회로 양분 되며 그 경계는 점차 멀어진다. 웹 상에서 우리의 삶을 대변 하는 아바타, 타이포그래피 그리고 이미지들은 수많은 픽셀로 이루어진 허상이다.

After loading the chopper with packets of cooked rice mixed with chickpeas, the crew and a handful of journalists departed in search of marooned villagers. We soon spotted families taking refuge on a cemetery, the only landmass in the area above water. As the helicopter came down to land, dozens of men and boys started to charge, forcing the pilots to hover over the crowd. As the doors to the helicopter opened to distribute food supplies, I saw my chance for a different angle and took a step back before leaping past the crewmen and jumped meters below onto the ground. I knew I had as much time to document the reality of the moment as it would take the crewmen to distribute the relief supplies they had brought. Tripping over mounds and gravestones, I managed to find enough distance from the helicopter to show dozens of hands reaching into the air to catch food rations being thrown down. Seconds later, I fought the dust and force from the propellers to return under the belly of the hovering craft to capture images of villagers hanging onto the skids in hopes of being rescued. After capturing an image that showed their desperation, I went behind the crowd to make eye contact with the crewmen, letting them know I wanted back on before they departed. After getting the visual go-ahead to return, I raced towards the doorways and with the help of a villager, hurdled over the crowd before being pulled up single-handedly by a crewman. I'd already spent two days taking pictures of destroyed villages and firefighters so I was surprised to see an Orthodox priest followed by masked elderly women. I believed that it would be an additional angle to the story I was covering. There were about 30 or 40 women, residents of Kriusha. They prayed and walked in a procession around the village asking God to save their houses, lives and asking for rain. They held the same religious procession twice a week for several weeks. A few days later I saw pictures of the procession taken by another photographer, but there was no smog. It was the circumstances surrounding this photo that touched me the most. Within no time dozens of exiles, including monks and girls, got off a bus and started shouting slogans and running towards the main gate of the embassy. Police started detaining them. It all happened so fast that within 10 minutes everything was finished. At the end I saw police carrying an exile towards a police vehicle so I immediately started shooting. His facial ｅxpressions were so good that I just kept shooting. When the police put him inside the vehicle, I took off the hood of my 16-35mm and kept my lens on the glass of the vehicle to avoid the glare and reflections. I shot more than a dozen frames because there was no time to change my camera ISO and the vehicle was moving. After the shoot it was the time to select the best frame, there were some frames in which photographers and cameramen were reflected in the glass and only one frame in which I could see a policeman was standing behind me. But after 4:30 pm I decided to leave the area. I packed up my SLR and switched to a small camera as I went in the direction of the tunnel to exit. As the pushing in the crowd became harder, I stopped taking pictures and climbed up a dusty hill at the end of the wall. From this elevated position I was able to see the overwhelming crowd of people which fluctuated in scary wavelike movements from one side to the other. Without being aware of the tragedy I was witnessing, I unpacked my camera again and started shooting, concentrating on the people at the entrance of the tunnel. I saw this woman being carried by police officers through the crowd and finally rescued over the stairs. A few seconds later I was prompted by police to proceed and to leave." Nothing was organized. Rescue workers and police were still busy trying to evacuate injured passengers. I walked along the track, crossed it and was in the middle of the scene. There were still a lot of people leaving the train. The weather was cold and snow was falling with a strange feeling of silence. A plainclothes police officer walked along the tracks in my direction carrying a little girl. White unemployment nearly doubled between 1995 and 2005. Seeking to reverse decades of racial inequality, the ruling ANC government introduced affirmative action laws that promote employment for blacks and aim to give black South Africans a bigger slice of the economy. This shift in racial hiring practices coupled with the fallout from the global financial crisis means many poor white South Africans have fallen on hard times. Many poor whites have ended up in places like Coronation Park in Krugersdorp, west of Johannesburg; a leafy former caravan site beside a water reservoir and a public picnic park frequented by middle-class families at weekends. These boys attend school and play rugby and cricket in their spare time, but this photo was taken on an idle Saturday when there was little else going on. I decided to go to the Stonehenge Neolithic monument on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire to try and shoot this spectacle. Using a tripod, a Nikon D700 and a 24mm lens, with an exposure of 7 minutes at 2.8, I somehow managed to capture a classic looking tipped perseid meteor directly over the stones. I wanted the stars to streak to give the picture some aesthetic impact, and in doing so it also widened my chances of catching a meteor on a long exposure. I sat there with my flask of tea for about 5 hours, trying to shoot in between security guards patrolling the stones with their torches. I didn’t know that I had anything until I got back to the car. The cold had really forced me to give up by then, even though it was mid August. I was pretty happy with the frame. After taking a couple of frames, I walked around looking for something different, another way to show the frustration that people were experiencing. I saw a woman in her 40’s, with a tired face that seemed to reflect hours spent waiting for food for herself and her family. She put her hand on a cracked wall to lean in and rest a bit. 위키리크스와 콘돔 스웨덴은 EU 회원국 중에서 성범죄 신고가 가장 많은 나라다. 지난해 EU위원회가 조사했더니 스웨덴에선 인구 10만명당 강간 46.6건이 신고됐다. 아이슬란드가 36건으로 두 번째, 영국이 26건으로 그 뒤를 이었다. 스웨덴에선 속어로 강간을 '깜짝 섹스(sex by surprise)'라고 한다. '깜짝 섹스'는 명백한 강간은 아니지만 남자가 콘돔을 쓰라는 여자의 말을 듣지 않은 채 강제로 하는 성행위를 가리키기도 한다. ▶스웨덴에선 남녀가 합의한 섹스라고 하더라도 임신과 성병을 두려워하는 여자가 남자에게 콘돔을 쓰라고 요구할 수 있다. 말을 듣지 않은 남자가 경찰에 고발되면 벌금 5000크로네, 83만원가량을 내야 한다. 미국과 유럽 다른 나라에선 구경할 수 없는 일이다. 스웨덴의 강간죄 처벌은 징역 4~10년형으로 '3년 이상의 유기징역에 처한다'는 우리와 비슷하지만, 여자의 권리를 더 폭넓게 인정한다. ▶미국 외교 전문(電文)을 폭로한 위키리크스 설립자 줄리언 어샌지가 스웨덴에서 저지른 성범죄 혐의로 영국에서 체포됐다. 어샌지를 아파트로 불러들여 잠자리를 같이한 두 여성은 그가 콘돔 사용을 거부했고 일부러 찢기도 했다고 스웨덴 경찰에 고발했다. 어샌지는 "악의적으로 떠벌려졌고 정치적 음모가 개입됐다"며 혐의를 부인했다. 두 여성 중 한 명이 미국 주재 스웨덴 대사관에서 일한 적이 있기에 미국이 미인계를 썼다는 추측도 나돈다. ▶어샌지를 두둔하는 지구촌 네티즌들은 미국 배후설을 퍼뜨리면서 스웨덴 형법도 조롱하고 있다. "어샌지가 강간을 했다고? 그래, 미국 정부를 강간했지!"라거나 "여자가 남자랑 화간(和姦)을 하고 나서 강간으로 고소할 수 있는 법이 도대체 말이 되냐"라고 한다. "찢어진 콘돔을 만든 회사를 고소하자"는 네티즌도 있다. '어샌지 콘돔(Assange condom)'이나 '찢어진 콘돔 사건(Case of broken condom)'이라는 검색어도 등장했다. ▶어샌지는 미국을 '벌거벗은 임금님'으로 만들었다. 거꾸로 어샌지 자신의 은밀한 '섹스 파일'도 세상에 공개됐다. 국가든 개인이든 누구나 '어항 속의 금붕어'꼴이 되기 일쑤인 인터넷 시대의 자화상이다. 정보가 새지 않도록 인터넷 네트워크에도 보안이라는 '콘돔'을 잘 씌워야 하는 세상이다.
